Plastic sheeting

The sheeting is cut to length, then it opens up to 20 ft wide. Each piece is sealed to the next piece with spray adhesive and tape.

Sealing off the drivers, 03/04, laying boards across the loco framework.

The more that's sealed out of the system, the faster, easier and cheaper the actual asbestos removal goes. Sealing from the top of the scaffolding and over the drivers - to the drivers on the other side and over that scaffolding seals out the entire undercarriage of the locomotive.

This isn't an easy thing to do.

Laying the plastic below the boiler section and over the drivers.

It's not a job just anyone can do.

It's drapped across, but not sealed yet.

Laying or hanging plastic on the inside roof of the framework.

Under the loco to tender board, this area will be completely out of the system when completed.

Under the scaffolding. This area will be sealed out of the system when completed.

Large dynamo, sealed out of the system.

With this sealed out, it won't have to be cleaned and painted with encapulsant when the job is completed. There are too many openings to make doing that desirable.

Small dynamo sealed out.

Negative air machine.

You are looking at the filter which will be inside the enclosure.

This is the side of the machine which will be facing out or the exaust.

Day 12, 03/06/2008

Under the scaffolding, fireman's side.

This will all be sealed out of the system.

Drivers sealed out of the system.

Under the boiler.

Working on the boilers and drivers.

South end on engineer's side.

This will be the entry from the Decon trailer and the only personnel entrance and exit from the enclosure.

Fireman's side, double poly'd on the inside. Almost ready for inspection.

Finishing touches under the scaffolding before it is sealed out of the system.

Tender to Locomotive cab walk.

Negative air machines cut into the enclosure.

Normally they are inside with only the exhaust visible. Because of the cramped conditions inside, they are outside sucking from the inside.

The decon trailer sealed to the enclosure.

The load out chamber.

Supplies can come inside through here and trash and double bagged asbestos can exit from here, but people may not enter or exit here.

No one without a current Oklahoma Asbestos license and clothing are allowed past this sign.
