                     Save the 905 Inc.
is a group dedicated to the preservation and the restoration of this old Rock Island Steam Locomotive #905 sitting in Fuqua Park, Duncan, Oklahoma.
This once proud 4-6-2 Pacific has been in our park since December, 1954.  She's rusting.  Periodically holes open up, letting asbestos escape which necessitates a clean up and seal job by the City.  This money drain and liability forced the City to try to dispose of her in 2000.  Our goal is to restore the 905 and make her an asset and which can be enjoyed by us, our children and their children.

The Rock Island 905 Historical Society, Inc.
Asbestos has been removed.  A new display has been built and the 905 moved.  The museum housed in the replica 1892 Duncan Rock Island Depot is now open.  About two years remain on the 905 locomotive restoration.  It is time to begin transitioning our objectives.  We will operate under both names while the restoration is continues.  When we are solely maintenance and museum operation we will completely drop the Save the 905 title.  We are the same volunteers dedicated to the preservation and restoration of the 905.  We hope you will continue to support our project.  Thanks!
